AROUND THE RANCH

WHAT DEFINES A "KEEPER"?

The number one quality we select for in all of our breeding animals is docility.  The days of jumping over fences are in the past. We firmly believe that if we cannot turn our backs to our cattle and fully trust them, they do not belong in our herd, and that applies to our bulls as well.

The second trait we select for is phenotype. I want cattle that are easy on the eyes. Soft bodied, easy fleshing, and structurally correct. I want a cow that is going to be productive well into her teens, and look good doing it.

We then take a look at their genotype and the first trait we select for their is calving ease. We do not want to spend every 2 hours checking on our cattle during calving season, and don't expect you to either. We fully trust in our genetics. Our second favorite trait is feed efficiency. The more money you put into keeping your females during the winter, the smaller the profit margin.

Our doors are always open to visitors. Feel free to schedule a time to come and meet us!
